Photographer's Note

Two boys play on the bow of their fathers boat in Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand.

These wooden boats and children are the surviviors of the 2004 boxing day tsumani which killed over 4000 people in Thailand and nearly 200,000 people in southeast asia.

Many people I spoke to in Ko Phi Phi literally ran for their lives to escape the ravenging tsumnani, and consider themselves lucky to be survivors.

Many of the boats had to be rebuilt as some of the people derive their livings from either giving boat rides or fishing.

The people, although still working from sun up to sundown to rebuild their island are quite resourceful, and the second anniversary of the tsumami will prove that Phi Phi is open and welcoming to visitors.
