Standing right on the Chao Phraya river, Wat Chai Wattanaram is one of the most impressive of the remaining monuments of old Ayutthaya.

Chapels stand at each of the four corners of the coutyard. These statues of Lord Buddha face the Chao Phraya river and are not in geat shape. The ransacking & looting of Ayutthaya had taken a toll, leaving these Buddha statues battered & broken. Yet in the light of the setting sun, the orange piece of clothing on these statues glistened, giving an aura of divine beauty
