Photographer's Note

Every tourist that goes to Ayutthya comes away with a picture of the ruins of Wat Yai, an important temple near the city. It goes with Wat Arun, the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po, the Golden Chedi at Wat Phra Keow and that everlastingly photographed Buddha head stuck in the root of a tree at Ayutthya as the most over photographed sites in Thailand. I have pictures of Wat Yai too, but I never yet posted one. But today, well! I'm in that kind of mood. Sorry!
So here, yet again, is a picture of the amazing central courtyard of Wat Yai. Ayutthya was the capital of Thailand until it was destroyed by a Burmese invasion in the 17th century.
N.B Beacuse bright Thai sunlight produces very strong colour, and friends often say my pictures look over saturated, this one has been desaturated a little.
