Photographer's Note

I had never been to Hsingtien Temple before and was quite shocked upon my first visit. It was literally crawling with people, by far the most busy temple I have been in here in Taipei and rivaled only by Wong Tai Sin Temple in Hong Kong. It was so busy that it was actually quite difficult getting shots as people were always moving into the field of view.

Within the temple, there were many older woman, all dressed in blue and sort of giving a blessing to the other visitors by chanting something in Chinese and waving lit incense sticks around them. There were line ups at least 20 deep in front of each of these women. As it was explained to me, these women are more or less retired and do this as a way of giving back to the community. Of course, this is one such woman.

Regular post processing, ISO 200, 148mm focal length, handheld, uncropped.
