Photographer's Note

The fishermen and women who hang out along the Hsin Tien River (Green Lake) must be some of the most patient people ever. I have spent quite a bit of time in the area, as it is a great spot for people watching and taking photos. On any given day, there will be at least 30-40 people with lines in the water. On weekends it will be probably four or five times that number. In the hours I have spent in the area, with the people fishing, I have not even once seen someone pull a fish out of the water. Not once! If I put an average of 50 people fishing, and if I have spent 10 hours in the area (both numbers are very conservative), that adds up to 500 man hours of fishing without even one success. It must be the Buddhist/Taoist beliefs that predominate here, because I know if I spent that amount of time with no luck, I would bring out the dynamite.
