Photographer's Note

I hadn't been to Bo-An Temple in a while, even though it is one of my favorite photographic venues. Bo-An is interesting in that the temple is in two parts. On one side of the street is the actual temple and on the other side is a sort of small park, still a part of the temple though. In this small park, you can see many of my favorite subjects: older men hanging around. This guy was the life of the party. He was telling a story to about five other guys, all of who were laughing and enjoying the tale completely. Clearly, he was a skilled story teller, I just wish I could understand what he was saying.

If there is any success to this shot, it is due to my technique of hanging out and becoming an accepted part of the landscape while taking shots. These guys knew I was there and they knew I was taking photos, but since I had been loitering around for a while, they were no longer paying attention to me, or to the big lens mounted on my tripod. I swear by this method.
