Photographer's Note

At Petrograd quay of of Saint Petersburg rises, already becoming habitual, the silhouette of the military ship is a legendary cruiser of 1-st rank Aurora. The ship is constructed on building berths of New Admiralty in Saint Petersburg in 1897-1903. During the Russko-Japanese war, having made transition in structure of 2-nd Pacific Squadron to the Far East (October 1904 - May, 1905), the cruiser Aurora has accepted baptism of fire in TSusimskom battle on May, 14-15 1905.
In 1917 the crew Auroras actively participates in February and October revolutionary events, and also followed for them civil war and reflection of foreign intervention. From nose of the ship instruments of a cruiser have been made a shot in a direction of the Winter palace (the Hermitage now) and it became deciding in definition of result of revolution.

In 1956 on Aurora the Ship museum, as branch of the Central Naval museum was open. For 45 years the museum was visited already more than 28 million by person, representatives more than 160 countries of the world were his visitors. In 1968 the cruiser Aurora has been awarded with an award of October revolution, and in July 1992 has been again lifted Andreevsky a naval flag - a symbol of sea power of Russia.
