Photographer's Note

Recently, several days ago, I was with my clients in Star City with excursions to the Russian State Science Research Cosmonaut Training Center and museum of cosmonautics named by Yuri Gagarin, first astronaut in space.

The Training Center was originated as a secret Air Force facility at the end of 50s - beginning of 60s to provide training for Russian cosmonauts. It would be foolish to try to find the center, which was named as Zvezdny Gorodok (translated as Star City or Starry Town), on Soviet maps...

From the beginning of 60s, the Star City consists of two parts: the training facility itself and residential area for the military and civilian personnel serving the facility, as well as cosmonauts and their families.

Nowadays, NASA astronauts assigned to space station missions spend about 40% of their time training at Star City and the rest at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Russian cosmonauts split their training much the same way.

I had not luck to take super pictures on those day, it is pity of course (I hope next time :)), but anyway I hope, that this photo of the full-scale mockup of the Mir Space Station will be interesting for you to see.

With BEST regards,
