Photographer's Note

Three children from the Suluk village fronting the sea, took a swing from one of the many Casuarina trees that lined Kalampunian Beach, which its sandy white beach leads to the promontory they called Tip Of Borneo, you see in the distant.

The big monsoon high tide and surf last November had clawed to sea a major part of the beach, taking most of the low grassy knolls and grassland that fronted the beach, leaving most of the copse of standing trees near the beachfront, naked to its roots.

What was once a grassland along the dirt and flotsam line in the photo, is now a barren exposed sandy ground.
