Photographer's Note

Years of neglect of this external wall of a shop situated in the historical part of Kuching City has resulted in the conditions of what it is now - patches of unpainted cement plaster, paint peeling off revealing the colours of yesteryear's paint, and of course the vicious attack of fungus has aggravated it.

However, this part of the city never lacks vibrant colours, even this unsual steel cladded window panels are painted in bright primary colour. Perhaps, it is the attempt by the owners of these old building to use colours to attract attention. For this shot, I waited for this lady to walk into the frame in order to add a sign of life and more colours to this composition.

The lighting condition was very poor, without any direct sunlight and poor diffused light on a cloudy morning. I relied on a high ISO to achieve this result which is still less than ideal.
