Photographer's Note

Dear TE friends

Sematan :-
The sun going down on me. Another series from my Sematan shooting session. You can see very quiet atmosphere in this small fishing village. There is no bank and not much facilities like medical or library here, just about 3 rows of shops selling sundry goods, food and trade. Life here is very laid-back and at ease without worries, and it reamins this way for decades.

About 2 years ago, you need to cross a river by ferry to reach here. And 10 years ago, the road was gravel, bumpy and dusty. A trip would take 1 day. Now you can reach Sematan from Kuching by road in 1.5 hours.

Photograph :-
For this shot, the sun rays shining at sloping angle provides a good light to the fruits hanging on branches. I make the focus on the branch and use f/14 to give DOF for the boats and jetty in BG.

You can see half side of the fruits under shadow.

I consider the jetty to be the focal point of this town. Many people come to view the sea from here, or just come fishing. Nobody leaves town without walking out the jetty and feel the cool breeze, and enjoy the scenery. Social and economic benefit of such a project.

The water tone is still useful for provide color contrast, whereas the foreground dried grass allows another color contrast. The thin white clouds add another layer of color contrast to overall view.

I hope you like the sun rays, which usually last only a few minutes.

Your tips, critiques and comments are most welcome. Enjoy viewing!

regards
Bill

p/s I think my Note is too long. Or can I qualify for free tip to Greece/Turkey for writing it? - LOL
