Photographer's Note

Enoshima, 'Isle of the Gods', has been a Japanese tourist destination for at least 1,000 years. Linked to the mainland by a sandspit at low tide, like France's Mont St-Michel, it is the legendary home of the founding goddess of the Japanese nation. The Turneresque clouds of this view of the Shonan Coast from Inamuragasaki are prominent in this photogravure etching, which is printed with Orient Blue ink on Japanese washi.
