Photographer's Note

While a number of Nur Jahan's relatives are buried elsewhere in the tomb, here in the central chamber are the sarcophagi of her parents. Her mother, Asmat Begum, is located to the right, while her father, Mirza Ghiyas Beg, occupies the sarcophagus to the left. These appear to be made of wood but in fact were created from a single block of rare yellow marble. The dados and flooring are geometric in design, and there are jalis on three sides. Access is to the south of the mausoleum.
