Photographer's Note
Shot at Amber Fort in Jaipur yesterday. She was sitting there... waiting. Her posture, her dress and the distant look on her face... made for an interesting capture.

Hi Avis;
Another nice shot my friend.
In this shot I feel like you have captured more the tradional dress, then the lady wearing it. I like the detail you have captured- as I find most Indian garments are, very intricate & detailed.
Well done!

Great portrait, very natural looking. I like the posture and teh expression of the old woman. The dark BG is very effective as she becomes almost luminous with all those colours on her clothes.

Wonderful capture Avishek, especially so with the dark background against which she rests. I did a workshop to bring out a bit of the detail of the arch behind her, for better or worse. I liked that detail, though it is not essential for this image, which is finely composed and executed. I'm not certain to what Sohrab refers in his comments, but perhaps you'll have a conversation with him so we can find out. Fine work once again.

love the portrait! you made it so well, with her beautiful dress appearing in full glory. was there that dark or you added the dark background in post-pro? how did you manage to take such a close picture without distracting her from her thoughts?

Avishek, this is an outstanding portrait, perfectly framed in a classical way, the only and best way as you could catch the whole person with all colors coming out from the shade, without shame I would say, this is work from a pro with a strong personal view and a personal approach appropiate to the subject, art photographie from a real photographer not distracted by clichιs you give a amazing masterpiece of Indian culture doing so right to your own country. Thanks.(to my Fav)
I bet that Sohrab has a TFT-screen.

hoo, great portrait Avishek, main features are for me the dynamics of her position, though she's apparently motionless, the leg of her sari draws like a wave in the picture and this matches very well her -tad dramatical- look away in the distance.
I would advise a different PP for your pic as I could see a softer light and more muted tones (slight desaturation) to enhance that kind of old world quality picture. A bit too sharp for me also, this image would accomodate with more softness.

She looks so so proud and vise. You catch her character I suppose.
The colours are so great, so clear. Black beckground gives some teatral note. Beautifull!

Very very good horizontal format portrait. The angles were cut very cleanly and the colors are outstanding. This, certainly, is your BEST shot. I like it very much. A favorite!

Fantastic image! The tight frame is just perfect because it centers all our attention in the lady but still does not become claustrophobic.
If I had to suggest something would be to apply a descrite soft focus filter in order to get a glow effect on the lady, especially in the clothes. But this would be just a different interpretation an not a improvement

Hello Avis
I like the difference you shot, between the eyes of the woman (angry ... no quiet at all)
and the position of her body (cool, young modern..)
very interesting picture about the contrasts...of life!
