Kailash Temple is one of the 34 monasteries and temples, extending over more than 2 km, that were dug side by side in the wall of a high basalt cliff in the complex located at Ellora (Marathi - वेरूळ), Maharashtra, India, and represents the epitome of Indian rock-cut architecture.

This temple is one part of series of 34 caves in Ellora, those are around approximately 2k yrs old
all these caves cut into one hill and they built top down approach means they started from top and started cutting the rock down side and built the temple, whole temple is built in single rock.
