Amritsar is a city in northwestern India located in the Majha region in Punjab. It is near Pakistan, with the Wagah border being only 28 km away. The population of Amritsar in 2019 as per estimates reaches 2.804 million. Hinduism and Sikhism are the fundamental religions with respectively 49.36% and 49.00%. In the city, the population of Muslims is 0.51%, Christianity at 0.23% and 0.23% with no religion.
Partition of India in 1947 into India and Pakistan had the most immense impact on the socio-financial matters, finance related issues, society and social structures of the city. The territory of Punjab was divided between two Punjab in two countries and Amritsar changed into a border city. Source : indiapopulation2019

Hello Miguel,
Although I only see three turbans this photo indicates that Amritsar is the "capital of Sikhism". The grey dullness of the building is mostly hidden by the great number of colourful signs. The photo has a very pleasant light and fine colours.

There are a few thousand Sikhs in Brisbane too. They are by and large nice people and make good immigrants. A superb daily life scene from this busy street with excellent colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Amritsar is a city I did not get a chance to visit while in India...maybe next time :) One of the reasons why I enjoy street shots from India are because of all the signs, here there is alot to look at as well. The photo is so clear and sharp that it appears the men on the scooters and motorcycles are actually standing still :) fine shot. cheers

Hi Miguel,
nice street scene. It is so busy with traffic and people moving in all directions.
Plenty of colors make it quite eye catching.
The turbans and inscription in foreign alphabet add an exotic touch.
