Photographer's Note

Known as the "Paris of the East", the French Concession in Shanghai was established as a result of China being forced to open up Shanghai to western countries as one of important international ports. Today, there is still a taste of franηais in its greenery and many Tudor mansions in the area. Strolling down the quaint and charming streets lined with tall plane trees in former French Concession area, you will get a taste of Old Shanghai far away from urban hustles and bustles. Wonderfully preserved old residences can be spotted everywhere; quite a few of them now house eclectic shops, delicate cafιs and restaurants.
