Photographer's Note

This is a face that can be seen carved in stone (around 1200 AD) many times at Bayon Temple in the ancient city of Angkor Thom inside the Angkor Wat Park in Cambodia. It was reportedly carved as a likeness of a Hindu diety, Avalokiteshvara, but was said to have more strongly resembled the likeness of King Jayavarman VII for whom the temple was built.
