Photographer's Note

A young Bhutanese girl stopped by a group of tourists on her way to school. She almost hides behind a wooden post yet cannot suppress her curiosity to play peek-a-boo.

I am back from Bhutan - the Last Shangrila - and hope to show you some images from this wonderful country. From its stark and striking mountains, to its lush green forests, fertile valleys, ancient ruins and uncorrupted ancient culture, Bhutan is an esoteric delight that holds everybody in its thrall. This particular picture is from Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Nestled in the barley fields and apple groves at an altitude of 8700 feet, Bumthang has an individuality that charms its visitors and separate it from other regions. Comprising of four smaller valleys, the deeply spiritual regions of Bumthang is shrouded in religious legend. Bumthang is also the traditional home to the great Buddhist teacher Pema Lingpa to whose descendants the present dynasty traces its ancestry.

This incidentally is my 200th post and I once again thank all my TE friends who have taken pains to critic my work. Your word is all the encouragement I need.
