Photographer's Note

Today we visited Dindefelo WAterfall.
Dindefelo is located about 35k south of Kedougou at the base of the Guinean plateau. It is a relatively small but well-equipped Pulaar village with a middle school, health post, and a weekly luumo market that functions as the economic and social center of this rural, mountainous region. Nestled into the mountains that form the border with Guinea, Dindefelo is a sprawling village of round mud huts and a center for Pula Futa culture. indefelo is best known for its natural beauty; in the village it’s impossible to escape the surrounding mountains of the Guinean plateau. A 40-minute hike through lush forest brings you to the Dindefelo waterfall, a 100m graceful chute that appears seemingly from nowhere. The area recently became a protected natural reserve for chimpanzees and is a haven for bird-watchers as well. There is a natural pool under the waterfall. The water was warm enough and I could swim.
