Great kensimage 2008-04-19 21:22

Nice that she wore blue and green to contrast with the red of the canyon! Having her down there does a lot for the shot--it looks like such a confined space, almost closing in on her. Was it a tricky climb to get to your high POV? Whatever, it was worth it. Usually people shoot slot canyons as beautiful abstracts, but that's been done so many times...nice to see a different take. Yes, it was very tricky. At the very beginning of the slot there was a small 15-foot span that took us at least 10 minutes to figure out how to negotiate. This photo was taken towards the back end of the slot. I had to climb up to this point, then she handed me my camera using my tripod with the legs fully extended. Getting down was even trickier. I haven’t had that much fun taking pictures in a long time.

P.S. Her outfit was pre-selected by moi.
