Great feather 2010-01-17 7:35

I have to agree with you that getting up for a sunrise takes some will power, especially over here where you might make the effort only to find clouds cover the sun and there's nothing to see. That wasn't the case here and it was worth the effort. The sky colours are lovely and the slow shutter has smoothed the wave out nicely. I can't see any problems caused by using a soft edge grad instead of a hard edge.

Default To feather: Hi Kath

Hi Kath

Thanks for the critique. The problem is see is with the FG being so dark. I think I need one of those grad filters that have grey up the top but are completely clear down the bottom. The one I have is just a lighter grey down the bottom. Will investigate more :) And I think the image is a bit blurry - or maybe that's my bearly morning eyes :)

Have a lovely Sunday evening

I don't think I have seen a grad like that. Mine are clear at the bottom.
I think it must be the motion blur of the waves giving you an optical illusion. Look at the rocks; pin sharp!
Bed time here now.
Take care
