Hi Bev

I walked around Pompeii for 8 hours and still only saw a fraction of what the site has to offer. I do hope the graffiti, trash and cigarette buts in many places have been cleaned up since I was there in 2013. Good sharpness and the guy with the backpack has a clear run all the way to the top, with no missing chunks of the stone stairs that I have sometimes seen at other antique theatres. Tfs!

Thank you for your critique, Chris.

Yes, Pompeii was very much better 'looked after' than when I went previously.
Roads were named more clearly, little evidence of litter and the murals that were vulnerable, like those in the brothel, had been placed behind perspex.
The whole experience was different. Last time when I went independently, the sky had been dark and threatening; this time it was sunny throughout.
Last time we hired a guide near the gate, who was very rigidly purposeful, almost aggressive as we toured the site; this time a guide was booked with the tour, and was knowledgeable and polite to a fault! Our tour-time was a lot shorter but we did have an hour to meander on our own.

Kind regards,
Bev
