Hello Bev,
I suppose this bridge was constructed only to be safe and functional, and with no intention to make it look beautiful. And yet, in a close view like this, the metal arms going in so many directions could (at least for someone with a vivid imagination) be seen as a sculpture or two. Place them in a sculpture park, and people would watch them with great interest, trying to figure out what they're supposed to show. In this location the background enhances the photo. As happens so often, this is very much a matter of cropping.

You always spend time thinking about the photograph.

With regards cropping, yes, I did crop the scene but not the photograph; this is exactly as the photograph came from the camera, with, of course, a few tweaks of contrast and sharpening.
