Default Block heaters

"Just a question, do you not use electrical preheater on the cooling system as we do?" Ebbe

Yes Ebbe , most cars, trucks and tractors in our climate are equipped with block heaters which keep the water system warm around the engine block...they usually allow for trouble-free winter starting but when it gets really cold it sometimes isn't enough.
We must also make sure our gas tanks are full during this cold times to avoid condensation which leads to icing of the gas line. For that,we usually add wood alcohol to the gas to melt and absorb the ice.

Default It was 82 here yesterday!

Which explains why over half the cars in the Palm Springs area belong to 'snowbirds' these days.

Sorry!

Default Re: Block heaters

Seems to be the same situation and tricks that I΄m used to here. For the guys in warmer climate we might add the flat spots on the tyres that make the car jump for each turn until the tyres get warm.
