Default Site beacomes slower?

Hi guys,

Is it only me or TE becomes slower that it used to be? I'm on broadband (ADSL) and have no problem with connection, yet sometimes have to wait ages for pages to open here...

I only posted this to see if I'm the only one or there's a problem due to increased traffic, or stg. else?

Your response is much appreciated,

Robi

Sometimes it's speedy, but many times I have to simply go and do something else instead of wait. I'm sure Adam is doing all he can to speed things up. Many complex things involved: think of all the calculations (of points, smilies, favorites, etc.), uploading of photos, world data for photos, and more. Add to this the speed of the server being used and the number of users per day (according to Alexa.com, TrekEarth is ranked 9,868th among over 61 billion websites! Alas, it is also ranked at a "very slow" speed (81% of sites are faster).

Keep up the good work, Adam, and I hope that some of that good work includes speeding things up.

Default Alexa rankings

Where do you get those rankings? Would be interested in seeing them.

Had the same problems in the night from France.
Solutions are proposed and I find it nice, but before proposing solutions should not it be more convenient to review an evaluate all the origins from this difficulties including :
- evaluation of the databases in size ("archives" are directly in all thread)
- opportunity to access some functions
- opportunity to threat all the informations
- inside links
- loading time (I mean of course everybody at the opening of the window for shooting at 3.00 or in the geographical habits)
- frequency of loadind allowed.
- inactive membership
etc...
All listed should give informations to Adam who knows and also would allow to evaluate what users wants, for example : I am not sure that its is important to have the total of points on the member and of the photo live, and what had been done for the member'point in delaying the threat for the total had not been a problem.

Yep it's becoming painfully slow. Although some images are totally worth it :-)

yes, it is becaming slower, the speed has been an issue on this site for number of months now and no improvements have been made.

I see many regulars posting much less than before, don't know if the speed has anything to do with it or not, it has certainly affected the number of critiques I write, I can only wait so long.

... and besides, many times I write a critique and press ADD button, after a while I get a pop-up message saying "This operation timed out when attempting to contact www.trekearth.com."

In fact this is one of the reasons that made me post much less, to almost a stop. As I like to look at the work of those who have taken the time to critique my work, it became almost impossible for me to do it.

Instead of the +20 critiques per day I used to write in my lunch time I’ve only managed to write about 10 at most, so I was getting a big backlog. The only choice was to stop posting, but even so I cannot recover my delay as the site is getting increasingly slow. The main problem is that I’m loosing rhythm and unmotivated and to recover will be hard.
