Great Ascot 2010-07-27 14:48

There is almost an organic quality here that reminds me of a a Fibonacci spiral inside the shell of a univalve mollusc! Or maybe it is a representation of the DNA molecule. Whatever, it is a most artistic photo, Bulent. A wonderful composition that Escher would surely have loved, as I do!

Warm greetings, Amelia

Default To Ascot: double heliz...

Hi Amelia,

When you look down from the top of a circular staircase (or conversely, if you look upward), that perspective will produce a logarithmic spiral. Light houses present lengthy windings. In the case of this one and Vatican Museum, in a sense there are a pair of intertwined helical spirals, in the manner of the DNA structure.

Many thanks for critique and the astute observation,

Bulent

Many thanks for that little tit-bit of info re: the Golden Mean and the DNA molecule, Bulent. Most interesting
