Great holmertz 2011-08-14 8:23

Hello Irena,
A nice picture of a fine and just slightly faded old building at a quiet corner. The house is nicely framed by the trees. Although we can't really see the street, the obviously well shaded pavements seem to be ideal for an evening stroll in summer. I am a bit surprised by what you tell us about the name of the street. I would have expected it to be "formerly Lenin Street".
Kind regards,
Gert

Post To holmertz: Hejsan Gert!

In Vladikavkaz, just renamed the street, named after the Georgian revolutionaries and removed the monument Sergo Ordzhonikidze (Georgian revolutionary, too), everything else left unchanged. There are still monuments to Lenin I think this is due to the strong difference between the mentality of the Ossetians and the Russians. One of the components of the Ossetians mentality is the respect for history and its past, respectful to the memory of ancestors. I think this is correct.
Regards,
Irena
