Default To jean113: a different view of things

Thank you Jean,

Difficult to answer your question correctly.
First of all, most people you see around and in the temple are Hindu pilgrims coming from other places in India.
Their visit of the Meenakshi Temple is something very special to them. They don't visit such an important temple every week/month/year.
On the other hand, I think that foreigners look up more to the gopurams than the Indians. Difficult to explain this.
We see very remarkable architecture and art. The visiting Hindus are, as it were, in a holy place where everything has a religious meaning and of course the Indian visitors were very religious Hindus.

Best wishes,
Paul
