Re: Nikon or Canon?

Alternatively you could go with a EOS350/Rebel XT, or D70S, and invest the money you save into some quality glassware for the front of your new camera.

Re: Why is Poverty photogenic? A consequence of our alienati

Technical problem with points that don't add up

Hey y'all (-:

I've noticed a strange thing. If someone gives you a comment and puts a smiley on it, then that smiley's points are added to your total.

But they aren't added to the photograph's...

Re: To aros: What is the rule of the thirds?

There's a good explanation on this site of the "Rule of Thirds"

Re: How many of you steal time from work for TE??

GUILTY! you are the voice of my conscience as I type this message at work... (-:

However I also steal time from home to do work so I suppose it all evens out in the end.

Deleting photographs that are not good

My process: Post a photo, wait one week. If less than 100 viewings and/or less than 6 points, it gets deleted.

The viewers have spoken. It's not helpful to leave these photos up. It's an...

I agree on the need for a photojournalistic version of TE

I started a thread on this subject a couple of months ago. Rather than re-open the discussion, I suggest you peruse this thread....

Re: Question for EOS350D (Digital Rebel) owners

Thanks (-:

I'll get the camera at Christmas. What diameter is the thread on the lens? I think it's 58mm, is that right?

Thanks again.

Question for EOS350D (Digital Rebel) owners

So I've (almost) decided to get myself an EOS350 as a Christmas present... only one question remains: I need to know if the front of the lens rotates when focussing. I plan to use a polarizing...

Re: How did you choose your user name?

Very boring. Contraction of my first and last name. Chosen because it is reminiscent of "eros", the winged statue in Piccadilly Circus, London (-:

Re: All The Pretty Pictures

I am with you 100% Gringofil, I also am busy trying to find my photographer's identity. Like you, I am sick of cliches, I want to take photographs that 1) are original and 2) say something.

I like...

Time zone question

What time zone are dates and times shown on TE? Looks like one of the USA timezones.

Given the large number of people using TE internationally, would it be better to have the times shown in UTC?...

Reasons for converting colour photo to b&w

My theory (and it's only a theory, I've got lots of 'em) is that colour can distract the viewer from composition. In other words, a poorly composed shot can be rescued by attractive colour.

The...
