I doublechecked, and the file name complied with the instructions.
What seems...

The critique system

I've been a member of TE for a long time although I'm not very active. The reason for that is that I have realized that the only way to get my photos noticed is to write glorifying "'critiqes" to...

Re: To Just-A-Guy: sign

The reason is probably because there are so many israeli backpackers in India, way beyond their fraction of world population.

Re: Namdaemun is gone

I can't cope with it. Namdaemun and Rosaline both gone on the same day. This is too much to bear.

Re: Some TE statistics...

I've done this analysis in march 2007 with both variables divided by the number of posted photo, and still found a good correlation with a coefficient of 0.81 (this analysos was for members with...

Re: Some TE statistics...

"Of course the average is near 1"

Why is it natural for this value to be around 1 ? Without reciprocation it could be any value. he fact that it is centered around 1 suggests a stronf influence...

Re: Some TE statistics...

Hi Alexander,

A very interesting post.
I have also discovered this phenomenon quite a long time ago, see:

http://www.trekearth.com/read.php?f=1&t=389774&m=549077

As for the analysis itself,...

Re: yeah,lets post comments...

Yes, I think number of favs is a good indication for the photo's quality, because members that copy-paste their sugary "criticues" on an industrial scale don't really bother to even look at the photo...

Re: yeah,lets post comments...

Dear Marko,

Let's talk numbers. I think I've "identified" the TE member that you blame of belonging to a "point club". If you look at his statistics, you may be rightly feel depressed as both of...

Re: Fishing for points?

Why, you get to know about the anatomy of the human eye, so it doesn't violate the rules.
Great photo though.

Re: Fishing for points?

I think that the whole system of points here is flawed, biased, unfair, unjust, in one word- bullshit. Points have no meaning at all, because 90% of the points given on this site are given with the...

Re: Fishing for points?

The member you mentioned uses a generic formula. It has the following template:

"A good POV of the 1)_____ and of the 2)_____, the photo has a good composition, DOF and beautiful colors. Thanks...

Re: I don t get it !

You are a member of this site since February 20 this year. That means that if you posted "only" 1 photo per day you would have had somrthing like 260 photos by now. Problem is I see ZERO photos in...

Re: Close up shots of people from "exotic" countries

Just a small anecdote. I lived once in Denver, and one day I was shooting (taking photos that is) Prairie Dogs in an open field out of my car on my way to work. Suddenly a big van with big man blocks...

Close up shots of people from "exotic" countries

I have noticed that a large percentage of photos taken in exotic/ poor/ 3rd world countries tend to be close-up shots of people. In Europe/ North America most shots are of landscape/ architecture....

You are ready to post a new photo. You already selected the chosen one, reduced its size and made some adjustment with Photoshop. You are just one click away from submitting to TE. You look at it...

A grim summary

KostsKon has written 783 critiques. 219 of those were marked useful. That is 28%. This is exactly the fraction of useful critiques I have, and I never ever copy paste. So if the system does not expel...

Re: Critiques - how long does it take you?

For me it takes 1-2 minutes per critique.
For some folks here- it depends on how fast they find the Ctrl-V on their key board.

Re: Delete a critique

Hi Kostas,

You seem to copy/paste the sentence "The colors are excellent, the sharpness is great and the POV is very good. Congratulations!!!" (with minute alterations) in 90% of your critiques....

The sultans of snapshots

I have came across a TE member, which of course I would not mention his name. His photos are pure examples of mere snapshots, the kind that thousands of tourists take every day at the world's famous...
